Meet the Tend team

A team of dreamers with our feet on the ground

With an academic background in philosophy, Emma is experienced in using writing as a tool for persuasive advocacy. She brings professional expertise in federal grants, a sharp eye for systems administration, and a commitment to clear, accessible communications. Emma manages all aspects of operations with thoughtful insight and attention to detail, and looks forward to connecting with you and your team. When she’s away from her computer, she’s often foraging for wild mushrooms or climbing rocks in the forests of rural Quebec.

Jackie is devoted to easing the financial burdens that weigh on non-profits so their energy can flow back into what truly matters: their communities. At Tend, she brings her background in community arts to weave strategy with heart and craft proposals that align with funder priorities, while staying true to organizational mission. When she’s not whittling down character counts, Jackie’s usually sipping on a cup of coffee wondering when is an appropriate time to brew her next.

An unapologetic dreamer of better worlds, Michael is keen to start connecting you to existing and emergent opportunities. He believes in the transformative power of everyday people coming together to tackle our most vexxing problems. When Michael isn’t sifting through funding databases to find the perfect grant for your organization, he’s likely out on the trails with his rescue pup and best friend, Petey.

Combining whip-smart writing with a keen eye for small details, Stephanie can help you develop your organizational capacity for meeting funders’ needs. She shares a deep commitment to justice and equity with the rest of the Tend team, and will help steer your applications to a successful end. Stephanie has a background in climate, health and policy communications. When not stewarding and crafting grants, Stephanie can be found chasing after her toddler, baking, lifting weights, and walking by the ocean.

How we work

Tend operates on a 4 day work week. Our team is not typically in the office on Fridays. This strategy helps our team maintain a healthy work-life balance, keep our productivity high and avoid burnout.

A growing body of evidence shows that productivity can actually go up with reduced working hours, and employees report being more rested, experiencing less burnout and overall improved wellbeing.

This strategy lets us bring our sharpest selves to work with you!
